Born in Havana, Cuba in 1963, my first music experiences were in the corners of the barrio where I lived, El Cerro, where the young generation of musicians gathered together fro a fun and experimental experience playing home-made percussion instruments, for example the bombo which is made with goat skin and a wood frame
In 1996 I put together my own Rumba and Guaganco group, Cuba Libre and Afro Nuevo where we performed at the Walker Art’s Center for the Cuban Negative Art show, Oxsbourg College for the Spanish heritage month, St. Cloud university and many other colleges and universities throughout Minnesota. Other special events were performed at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts Sublime and for the Latino Midwest News.
Presently I have put together a new group called Salsa Havana performing at Conga Latin Bristo and other special events and private parties. I also work on a variety of projects with artist and local musicians.
